She is the president of Gaylesta, the primary LGBTQIA+ psychotherapist networking organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. Bonnie loves working in the helping profession and is motivated by Neuroscience. She is trained in both Bio and Neurofeedback. She has provided Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG), EEG Brain Training, neurostimulation (LENS, tACS, tDCS, and pEMF), and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Training, among other interventions in private practice for ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, TBI, and PTSD symptom reduction.

Other modalities and styles of psychotherapy used include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Creative Expression, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychodynamic Reflection, Psychosynthesis, Mindfulness-based interventions, Relaxation Techniques, Solutions Focused Therapy, Hypnosis, and longer-term Existential-Humanistic talk therapy based on Logo-Therapy (meaning-based therapy established by Victor Frankl).

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” ~ Victor E. Frankl
Additional thoughts
Over the years, Bonnie has worked in Information Technology, managed processes and projects, has been a clinical supervisor, addressed large audiences, led psychoeducation workshops specializing in brain health, and has also published several scientific abstracts in the fields of Psychophysiology and Transgender Health. She is finishing her Ph.D. and doctoral studies on transgender health in conjunction with Saybrook University in Pasadena.

Bonnie received her master’s in counseling psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto in 2013 and has been licensed as an MFT in the state of California since 2017. She has worked in both private practice and not for profit clinical work, most prevalently for Dignity Health in Acute Adolescent Psychiatric over eight years. Her last position held there was Milieu Therapist: Clinical Services Program Coordinator, which was responsible for clinical supervision and training of 12 practicum MFT & LCSW interns, unlicensed staff support, oversight of group psychotherapy in the Counseling Enriched Education Department, as well as clinical groups and services in the Acute Adolescent Inpatient Department. She has also worked with adults with acute psychiatric disorders in both crisis stabilization and permanent housing.

When she is not working, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her family, beekeeping, and traveling. She has three cats and a dog. She was recently transplanted to Sacramento Valley in California from San Francisco and is very excited to start her new chapter with Sutter Health as the Supervisor for the Psychiatric Response Team at the Sutter Center for Psychiatry in conjunction with the Sutter Medical Center Sacramento. She also recently reopened her private practice in East Sacramento and offers her clients psychotherapy, hypnosis, and Biofeedback. Specialties that have emerged for her are working to improve dysregulated breathing, mindfulness instruction, and helping people who are recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). Her professional goals are to keep learning and provide services and support to make other peoples’ jobs and lives easier.
