Statement of Privacy

Gaylesta is committed to protecting your privacy, and very effort will be made to protect it and to ensure that personal information entered on this site is used only for purposes pertinent to creating and maintaining your Gaylesta membership. This Statement of Privacy applies to the Gaylesta web site and governs data collection and usage at all official Gaylesta webpages and services. It must be recognized that Gaylesta is a general audience web site, intended for users of all ages.

Collection and Use of Your Personal Information

All members of Gaylesta are asked to provide the organization with basic contact information, information on professional credentials and training, and membership particulars. Such information is used solely for the purpose of internal membership records and billing purposes. Gaylesta may also contact you via survey to conduct internal research about your opinion of current Gaylesta services, changes in current services, or of potential new services. We do not use or disclose personal information that is identified as solely meant for internal Gaylesta purposes without your explicit consent. Gaylesta does not sell, rent or lease its membership lists to third parties.

We hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as processing membership orders and payment transactions, and housing our list serve. We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information and are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.

Security of Your Personal Information

Gaylesta is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer systems with limited access which are located in controlled facilities. When we transmit highly confidential information (such as a credit card number) over the Internet, we use a secure payment gateway so your information is protected.

Gaylesta may access and/or disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Gaylesta or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Gaylesta, including its Web site; or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Gaylesta or the public.

Personal information collected on this site may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Gaylesta or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by using this site, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of this country. Gaylesta abides by the safe harbor framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.

Controlling Your Personal Information

To aid potential clients using the Locate a Therapist search engine, you have the option of providing additional information on gender identification, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and specifics regarding the therapy you offer (types, theoretical orientation, areas of expertise, populations served, office location[s], etc.).

Gaylesta offers its members choices for the collection, use and sharing of personal information. You may change the default settings of your online profile by managing your account's privacy settings.

Additionally, you may notify us of your preferences by emailing us. Please be sure to provide complete account information so we can identify you in  our records.

You may also stop the delivery of promotional emails from Gaylesta via direct response to any email you receive with a request to remove you from the mailing list.

Applicable Law

Terms of Membership

Memberships run for one calendar year from the date of activation; renewal dates are individual to each member. Online payments and credit card information is securely processed and stored through our partner, Authorize.net.

Payment Details

You will be invoiced when you submit your membership application. You have the option to pay online or to send in payment to our mailing address. Online payment allows you to better manage your own account and reduces our administrative overhead and ultimately frees more of your membership fees for direct services to our members; however, payment by check is an option as well.

Please note that online registrations and renewals automatically enroll licensed members in automatic renewal payments to occur annually. Your invoice will make your options clear. While some members prefer this convenience, we understand that this is not ideal or desirable for everyone. Gaylesta is committed to your comfort at only making purchases you have consented to make. Once enrolled in auto-pay, you can cancel this option from your profile at any time before your renewal date. We are happy to cancel your auto-renewal enrollment at your request.

Pre-licensed members are not enrolled in auto-pay.

Renewals:

You will be notified and invoiced 30 days before your membership renewal is due, and memberships that go unpaid automatically lapse 14 days after the renewal date, after which you can no longer self-renew. As with new registrations, your invoice gives you the option to either pay online or to pay by check. Online payments 1) will automatically take effect and update your account status with no delay; and 2)  (applicable to licensed members only) will automatically enroll you in automated annual billing. You will receive notification and receipt for all charges.

Prior to any auto-renewal, licensed members will receive reminders of this upcoming charge, to allow you to cancel or change your membership options. As a registered member, you can edit your account and payment method at any time prior to your renewal date. Your renewal extends your membership to one year from your due date (regardless of when you pay), so early renewals are welcome and will not shorten your membership period.

We recommend that those paying by check due so well in advance of their renewal date to ensure proper time for mailing and processing to ensure that your membership does not lapse and disrupt your access to the Gaylesta website and listserve.

Terms of Membership and Refund Policy

If membership is cancelled at any time, the membership will remain active until the end of the subscription term, but no subsequent annual membership renewal fees will be charged. There will be no refund (pro-rated or other) of the membership fee for any remaining portion of the subscription period. Members may change their membership level at any time. There will be no refund (pro-rated or other) of the membership fee for downgraded memberships during a current billing cycle, but the lower membership fee will take effect when invoiced for the next billing cycle.
