I am an interactive psychotherapist. I find that my clients are more comfortable and able to build a trusting relationship when communication is fluid. My theoretical practice of Self-Psychology emphasizes empathy, genuineness, relationship building and trust. My skills in Cognitive Behavioral techniques can bring about immediate relief of symptoms, such as those commonly experienced in anxiety and depression. I feel that a combination of both therapeutic techniques can be useful in promoting resolution of most interpersonal problems. I truly believe that therapy can be interesting, informative and growth enhancing. This can be done in an environment that is supportive, safe, professional, respectful and when necessary may be confrontative. Therapy does not have to be humorless and it need not always involve pain.
If you feel hesitant to enter into therapy or come from a culture that may even discourage therapy, please consider calling for a consultation or to set up an evaluation to see if therapy is right for you. Establishing a good fit with the right therapist is one of the most important steps you can take towards developing a positive relationship with yourself and others.
