Welcome
Hello!

Welcome to the private practice of Albert Pignataro, MFT. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (MFC 53486) practicing in Willow Glen, San Jose.

If you're here, chances are you are looking to work with someone who "gets" you and will walk the healing path with you.

You might feel angry, anxious and afraid, or sad and alone. You may be resorting to substances or other addictive patters to cope.

You’ve often felt different in some way, like an outsider or the “black sheep”, “freak”, “weirdo”. You are not what society expects you to be, and you’ve been made to feel ashamed of this.

You might have difficult relationships with your partner, family, or friends. You feel like you’re giving all you got to these relationships but not getting enough back.

You think that you’re “lacking” or “not enough” in some way. Perhaps your parents, partner, or boss exacerbate this dreadful feeling and it’s really getting to you.

As your therapist (and fellow traveler of the healing path), I provide a safe and judgement-free therapeutic setting for you to explore your unmet wants, needs, and desires.

This exploration opens the door to embodying a more authentic you. Together we can tackle anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship issues, substance abuse, issues of self-esteem and self-worth, by reconnecting you to your own inner wisdom and strength. I typically focus on working with the following populations and issues:

Therapy for Men and related issues

Therapy for the LGBTQ+ Community

Therapy for Individuals and Couples for anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, relationship issues

If you are interested in learning more about therapy with me, please send me a message here! I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation so that I can answer any questions you may have, discuss the issues you would like to address, and we can determine if we are a mutual fit for this work.
Additional thoughts
I believe that people do not operate in a vacuum – We are, in part, the product of our history (which includes family history, culture, gender, etc.), and the lessons learned from that history influence our choices and actions today. Sometimes (or more than sometimes….) we do this even though it may hurt us and those around us. The awesome thing is that, every day, we have a new opportunity to change our choices and actions so that we can make our lives better, healthier, and more satisfying. We often forget this wisdom; we forget that we have this power to change.

My therapeutic style is one that is active and engaging. By that I mean that I make it a point to interact with you by way of reflective listening, strategic inquiry, encouragement, and, when appropriate, by challenging beliefs and actions that are compromising and undermining to you. I have been told by others that I can cut though the “noise” and get to the heart of the matter, and I strive to do this in a way that is caring, non-judgmental, and with a good dose of humor when needed!

We only get to live, love and enjoy life for a finite time. It’s up to each of us to do what we can, and get the help we need when we struggle, to work toward our most authentic self, and strive for that cherished sense of empowered freedom we deserve. If I have piqued your interest and would like to get more information, go to my website and send me a message to set up a free consultation and see if there is an opportunity here for us to work together.

Insurance info
I currently do not accept insurance plans. However, I can provide a you a monthly invoice (sometimes called a “superbill”) that you may submit for reimbursement if your insurance plan has an out-of-network benefit.

Please note: many insurance plans require that a therapist provide a diagnosis for the client, and that the diagnosis be documented on the invoice/superbill, in order to qualify for reimbursement.

This means that your presenting issue must meet certain criteria to qualify for a diagnosis, and thus qualify for possible reimbursement.

If your presenting issue does not meet the criteria for a diagnosis, you will not receive one, which may negatively impact your reimbursement.

Please contact your insurance provider for information about out-of-network benefits and reimbursement.

Therapy sessions may also be covered by a Health Savings Account. Please contact your employer/HR department for more information.
